The choice of Lot

As city-dwellers in Lyon, our daily lives were punctuated by our professional and family lives,
social and cultural. Passionate about long-distance travel, we have never
would have imagined radically changing our lives.
In 2020, the pandemic and its successive confinements shook up our certainties. This unexpected global event gave us the opportunity to listen to a deep-seated desire to take a different path, to write a new adventure. In 2022, we left our home region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes for Occitanie.
We fell in love with an authentic winegrower's house, a "quercynoise", full of charm and history. The former owner, Geneviève, has passed on her passion for wine to us. the stories of this family home, whose origins date back to the end of the XIXᵉ century.
Originally a traditional farmhouse, the main house was extended over the course of the XXᵉ century. A vast cellar once housed large tuns for making Cahors wine. The barn in turn housed animals, hay crops, tobacco, walnuts and, above all, truffles. Its former owners were renowned for their trade. They also produced foie gras and local specialities.
The charm of this place doesn't stop at its walls: its geographical location is a real asset. In the south-west of the Lot, right next to the River Lot, we're at the gateway to three départements: the Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne.
The region's capital cities are famous and well worth a visit. Cahors is 30 minutes from the property, Montauban 1 hour, Toulouse 1 hour 50 minutes, Bordeaux 2 hours 40 minutes and at the end of the road, the sea with Arcachon 3 hours away.
Just 2 km from the lively market town of Prayssac, our house enjoys a bucolic setting: a peaceful residential environment with uninterrupted views over vineyards, hills and chestnut forests. All of this is complemented by a vast garden and swimming pool overlooking this magnificent landscape. Puy l'Évêque, a charming town with a listed medieval centre, is just 5 km away. Here you will find the dynamic Lot Valley and Cahors Vineyards Tourist Office will be your guide (visits to must-see sites, wine festivals, markets, Vinoltis Œnotourisme...).
We were won over by the diversity of its landscapes, its peaceful atmosphere and its unspoilt nature. Ever since we moved here, we've been constantly discovering its treasures: its historical heritage, its wealth of artistic treasures, its gastronomic traditions... At the Villa, we'll be delighted to tell you about some of our favourite places. our favourites and our more secret addresses.
The Lot is also a real playground for nature lovers:
So at the end of 2022, we decided to settle here, buying this beautiful building and its adjoining barn to renovate: the ideal place to realise our plan to open a guest house warm and authentic.
